The mission of the Athletic Training Program at New Mexico State University (NMSU) is to provide dedicated, effective teaching, scholarship, and service to our students preparing to be health care providers. Students in the Athletic Training Program are offered a curriculum of didactic, laboratory, and clinical experiences which emphasize a “hands on” learning approach. The NMSU Athletic Training Program is committed to providing students with educational, clinical, and professional growth opportunities that will help prepare them for The Board of Certification (BOC) examination, and entry into the Athletic Training profession.
- To provide challenging didactic and clinical experiences preparing student to pass the Board of Certification (BOC) examination and perform the tasks of an entry-level certified Athletic Trainer.
- To provide opportunities for interaction with a variety of health-care professionals in the sports medicine setting.
- To provide a comprehensive academic curriculum which adequately prepares the student to either gain employment as an entry-level certified Athletic Trainer, or to successfully pursue advanced study in athletic training or a related health-care field.
- To provide an atmosphere encouraging professionalism through membership(s) in professional organizations, and presentations at state, district, and national meetings.
