Application Procedures 

  • Applications for the program open in July each year. Priority admission application deadline is December 15th followed by rolling admissions until the hard deadline of March 15th.  The program uses a cohort model with courses beginning in June each year.

 

  • Students should apply to the NMSU MSAT program through ATCAS application portal. Students MUST apply through the ATCAS portal and should not submit an application to NMSU Graduate School until instructed to do so by the NMSU MSAT program.  All applications must be complete, submitted, and verified through ATCAS to be considered for review.

 

  • Qualified applicants will be contacted for a videoconference or in-person interview. 

 

Items needed for application 

  • All applicants will need to demonstrate a minimum of 50 hours of observation/shadowing with a BOC certified athletic trainer.  Applicants must submit a record of those hours signed by the supervising athletic trainer which includes their BOC number and state license number.  This documentation must be uploaded to the ATCAS portal as part of the admissions process. 
  • Three forms of recommendation (submitted via ATCAS)
  • Official Transcripts (submitted via ATCAS)
    • Current CPR/AED certification
