The Motor Behavior and Sports Psychology Laboratory is a research facility dedicated to the study of human movement and the psychological aspects of peak performance. Encompassing the fields of motor behavior and sports psychology, studies examine those factors underlying skillful movement in an effort to better design instructional and practice conditions that optimize learning and performance. The lab also provides interested students the opportunity to explore questions of interest and hone their research skills.
The Motor Behavior & Sports Psychology Laboratory is a 1600 sq ft. room located in room 228 of the Activity Center.

Sean M. Cochran is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Kinesiology with an emphasis in motor control and learning. He works under the direction of Dr. Aiken. Sean’s primary research interest is in the effects of virtual reality training on motor and cognitive performance. He received his M.S. in Applied Neuromechanics as well as his B.S. in Sport Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Pin-Chen, Lin is a first year Ph.D. student in Kinesiology with a focus in motor behavior and sport psychology. He earned his M.S. in sport psychology and motor behavior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Pin-Chen has also done sport performance consulting in the states of Tennessee and Florida. Outside of his academic work he enjoys playing basketball, surfing, and watching football.
Jack Sampson is a doctoral student working under the direction of Dr. Phillip Post. Jack received his M.A. in Health and Physical Education at Brock University. Jack’s area of interest is in sport psychology, specifically exploring the function of self-talk protocols during exercise and sport performance. Jack also has applied sport psychology experience with volleyball, basketball, hockey, fencing, rugby, and curling.
